Welcome to The ADHD Center for Success

We are excited to be able to offer our services to individuals and families throughout the state of Hawaii.

The ADHD Center for Success was established in Southern California in 2009, committed to providing individuals and families the most current and comprehensive evaluations for ADHD. Ongoing education and collaboration with schools and healthcare providers is a key component of our program.

The past 4 years have seen a tremendous increase in adults seeking an evaluation to determine whether they might have ADHD. We offer specialized evaluations for these Adults who have struggled with attention and focus since childhood and often wondered if they had ADHD but have never been formally assessed or diagnosed.

Diagnosis and Treatment of ADHD is a comprehensive process. For children and adolescents it involves collaboration of parents, teachers, and experienced health professionals. In the case of adults, it may include observations from someone who knows you well (significant other, sibling, friend or parent) as well as collaboration with a current therapist, psychiatrist or primary care provider. Unlike other disorders, there is no one medical, physical, or genetic test for ADHD but instead requires a comprehensive evaluation by a qualified mental health care professional or physician who gathers information from multiple sources.

We are not a “Quick Diagnosis” clinic. We have been established since 2009 and have helped hundreds of individuals and families understand and navigate the complexities of ADHD. Our reports are comprehensive and assist providers in the treatment of the individual and their family.

Benefits of a Remote Evaluation

Our Remote Evaluation does not compromise the integrity of the assessment, it makes it more accessible and convenient.

  • Includes all of the assessment instruments (completed by the client, their designated others such as teachers, parents, spouses, friends, etc)
  • A clinical interview from the comfort and privacy of your home. Allows families with younger kids to let them leave while we discuss concerns out of earshot.
  • The Continuous Performance Test (CPT), a measure of your Attention in “real time” is done on your computer while we are online together rather than in our office.

…All of the above is the same, whether online or in our office

We are based in San Diego, California. In an effort to best serve the residents of Hawaii, if there is not a time available online that works for you, please email us directly and we will be happy to accommodate your needs as far as timing as best we can.  We are also flexible to provide some assessments on weekends.

The goal of our evaluation is to determine the underlying cause(s) of an individual’s current difficulties. There are times when the symptoms reported might appear to be consistent with a diagnosis of ADHD but instead may be caused by anxiety or depression or some other factor. These factors can also co-exist with a diagnosis of ADHD, especially in the case of a late diagnosis, and are important to identify and address in the evaluation and treatment process. Many of the adults we see have been diagnosed with anxiety and/or depression for many years, never considering ADHD as the underlying issue.
OUR REPORTS HELP PROVIDERS UNDERSTAND YOUR STRUGGLES AND PLAN FOR THE BEST COURSE OF TREATMENT

Remote Evaluations

EVALUATIONS: We provide our Comprehensive ADHD Evaluations, both Child/Adolescent/Adult as well as Modified Adult Evaluations, remotely through a HIPAA compatible video platform, SimplePractice. This platform enables us to offer these services to many more people throughout the state of Hawaii who would not normally have access to the comprehensive evaluations offered at the ADHD Center for Success. The computerized, Continuous Performance Test or CPT will be conducted remotely (instead of in our office) on your own computer in a live session under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Psychologist, followed by a Clinical Interview done through Telehealth by video. Forms for the evaluation will be sent to you through our secure patient portal once you have scheduled an evaluation.

Look for the email from “[email protected]” for the invitation to the secure portal. Forms must be completed at home prior to the evaluation, and uploaded to your portal prior to your scheduled appointment. Alternatively, the forms are also available as a packet to download on our website, which you can then upload to your portal (or for the technologically challenged, you may email or fax them back to us) prior to your evaluation.

ADHD Follow-up visits and Parent Guidance Sessions are also offered remotely and may be scheduled online. We use a HIPAA-compatible video session through SimplePractice. Once scheduled you will receive an email with a unique link prior to your session that will connect you directly to our “virtual waiting room.” If you prefer to do your session by phone, please let us know by email and provide the best number to reach you at the time of your session. Evaluation sessions must be done by video.
